Adding a link to your text
Posted on May 5, 2009
To some, this may seem simple beyond belief. But like everything else, we all have to learn some time. If you’re familiar with how to put a link in your blog post/page, then you can skip this post. If you’re not, then sit back and read this.
Let’s suppose that you write a post in which you refer to something you saw on the Department of Homeland Security’s web site. It might be a good idea to link to the information you refer to. Here’s how to do it:
- Select the text that you want to link to. (see image)
- Click the link button in the post/page edit menu. (see image)
- Paste or type the link into the Link URL box and then click Insert. (see image)
- You’ll see that the text you selected is now underlined.

Add a YouTube Video

If you have a blog, then at some point you’re going to want to direct your visitors to a YouTube video. But you’ll still want to keep them on your site. SO, why not embed the video? Here’s how to do it:
- Select your video – Chances are you have one in mind. Or just go to YouTube and search till you find what you want. BTW, this is an EXCELLENT time waster, in case you needed one.
- Grab the embed code – As in the image below, just click in the box next to embed, makes sure all of the text is selected and copy that text. (Ctrl+C or Command+C)
- Scoot on over to your blog and open the post/page you want to put the video in.
- Position your cursor where you would like your video to appear
- Switch to HTML mode for your post. See the image below.
- Paste the text you selected above. (Ctrl+V or Command+V).
- Save your post/page

This is a page from YouTube, pointing out the code provided by YouTube to be used to embed a video in your blog post/page.

This image shows the HTML tab. Use this when you want to embed your video. Otherwise be careful with this mode unless you have knowledge of HTML.
